In spring and in summer, look to the skies. The heavens are
sometimes darkened, not by rain clouds but hot air balloons,
invented here in Annonay two hundred years ago and still flown
by many enthusiasts. Soar away to explore these undulating
and temperate landscapes dotted with orchards of cherry trees
and the Rhone valley vineyards.
As you fly over the Doux river valley you might
hear the "Mastrou", a century-old restored steam
train, whistle to the bathers as it climbs the mountain line
from Tournon to Lamastre. Further up the Rhône valley,
admire the ruins of Crussol and Rochebonne castles –
and explore 150.000 years of mankind's history at the archaeological
site in Soyons...
